FAQ
ADA sign questions
Which rooms need ADA signs?
Signs that identify permanent rooms and spaces — restrooms, stairwells, room numbers, utility rooms — generally require tactile text and braille. Directional and informational signs don’t need braille but still have legibility requirements. Details in our ADA sign requirements guide.
Where are ADA signs mounted?
Typically on the latch side of the door, with tactile characters between 48" and 60" above the finished floor. Your bundle includes a mounting note per sign so installers place them correctly the first time.
Are these signs certified?
ADA does not run a certification program; compliance is determined by the sign’s specifications and installation. We produce to the ADA Standards for Accessible Design and confirm jurisdiction-specific requirements during proofing.
